What biomarkers are included in this test?

The Women's Hormone Blood Test provides precise measurement of key hormone levels including Progesterone, Estradiol (E2), Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), and Testosterone. This comprehensive panel enables expert evaluation of hormonal balance, reproductive health, and endocrine function, supporting informed clinical decisions and personalized treatment plans. Ideal for assessing menstrual irregularities, fertility concerns, and hormonal therapy monitoring.

Biomarkers:

  • Progesterone: This test measures progesterone, a hormone important for reproduction. Produced mainly in the ovaries for women, smaller amounts also come from the adrenal glands and brain. This hormone regulates the menstrual cycle and supports pregnancy. Progesterone may also protect brain cells and influence neurotransmitters. Doctors often use this test to assess pregnancy health, infertility, or abnormal bleeding. Results depend on the menstrual cycle or pregnancy stage.
  • Estradiol (E2): This test measures estradiol (E2), the most active form of estrogen. Produced mainly in the ovaries, smaller amounts also come from the brain, fat, immune cells, and bones. Estradiol supports reproductive health, brain and thyroid function, bone strength, and weight balance. In the blood, most estradiol is bound to proteins, with only about 1% free and active. Since free estradiol is difficult to measure, most tests report total (bound) estradiol levels.
  • Luteinizing Hormone (LH): This test measures luteinizing hormone (LH), produced by the pituitary gland to regulate reproduction in both men and women. In women, LH controls estradiol production, triggers ovulation through an LH surge, and later stimulates progesterone to support early pregnancy. LH levels rise after menopause. Doctors may order this test to assess fertility issues, irregular periods, low testosterone, reduced sex drive, or possible pituitary disorders.
  • Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH): This test measures follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), which regulates the menstrual cycle and stimulates egg growth in the ovaries. FSH levels rise and peak before ovulation. Doctors often use this test to evaluate infertility, irregular or missed periods, and ovarian function.
  • Testosterone: This test measures total testosterone, which includes both protein-bound and free testosterone. Produced mainly in the testes (men) and ovaries (women), with smaller amounts from the adrenal glands, testosterone supports bone strength, muscle growth, red blood cell production, libido, mood, and brain function. About 2–3% is free, while most is bound to SHBG or albumin. Testosterone levels naturally start declining after age 30.
