Important safety information
Compounded MIC + B12 (methionine, inositol, choline and cyanocobalamin) and Lipo C (MIC with L-carnitine, B-complex vitamins and B12) injections are prescription medications. Compounded medications are prescription medications prepared by state-licensed pharmacies for an individual prescription. They are not FDA-approved, and the FDA does not review compounded medications for safety, effectiveness or quality.
Do not use these injections if you have had an allergic reaction to vitamin B12 (cobalamin), cobalt or any ingredient in the compounded product. Tell your provider if you have kidney or liver disease, a thyroid condition, Leber’s disease (an inherited optic nerve condition), a history of seizures, or if you take medications that affect the liver. They are not a weight-loss medication and are not a substitute for diet and exercise.
Possible side effects include pain, redness or bruising at the injection site, nausea, upset stomach, diarrhea, headache, flushing (from niacin in B-complex formulas), a fishy body odor (from L-carnitine), mild itching or rash, and, rarely, allergic reactions. Stop using the injection and get medical help right away if you have signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or hives.
This is not a complete list. Talk to your provider about your full medical history and every medication and supplement you take, and tell your provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or breastfeeding.
